Snorkeling or free diving tour details
Kahoo Ishigaki offers two types of tours:
Snorkeling and free diving(skin diving).
Both tours will be happening on the same boat and go to the same spots.
What’s the difference between snorkeling and freediving?
-Snorkeling is where you float at the surface of the water (optional to wear a life jacket or wetsuit), observing the underwater world.
-Freediving is an activity where you hold your breath and dive down underwater.
We recommend snorkeling to most unless you are comfortable with diving underwater.
Due to the continuing rise in prices and fuel costs starting April 1, 2023, we will be adding a fuel surcharge of ¥500(per person)
- 1-Day Manta Ray and Sea Turtle Snorkeling Tour
-15.000yen per person(Japanese yen consumption tax included)
-On this tour we will be departing by boat at 8:30am and snorkel at 3-4points throughout the day until around 3:00pm.
-Depending on the weather we will take you to points where you can meet manta rays, sea turtles, colorful coral, sandy beds, and terrain.
*There is a rule that prohibits skin diving at any points where we may see manta rays.
- 1-Day Manta Ray and Sea Turtle Free diving Tour (Skin diving)
-15.000yen per person(Japanese yen consumption tax included)
-On this tour we will be departing by boat at 8:30am and snorkel at 3-4points throughout the day until around 3:00pm.-The points we will visit are the same as those in the snorkeling tour above.
-Depending on the weather we will take you to points where you can meet manta rays, sea turtles, colorful coral, sandy beds, and terrain.
*There is a rule that prohibits skin diving at any points where we may see manta rays.
*Depending on weather conditions there is a possibility that we may not be able to visit points with manta rays and sea turtles. Also, as these are creatures living in the wild, there may be days where we do not encounter any.
*Due to COVID-19 preventative measures we will not be providing drinks so we ask that you bring your own.
- For snorkeling tours: mask, snorkel, fins, and life jacket. *Wetsuits if desired.
- For skindiving tours: mask, snorkel, long fins, weight, and weight belt. *wetsuits available if requested.
-You must be able to swim on your own.
*Some points take longer to get to which means more time to get seasick, so we recommend taking motion sickness medicine before getting on the boat.
*If you don’t normally tan, please bring sunscreen. You will most likely burn. If possible please use reef safe sunscreen!!
Please note
Depending on the weather conditions we may not be able to go to the planned spots but rather pivot to other points and continue the tour.
*Tours may be cancelled if the captain deems the weather too dangerous due to bad weather conditions such as during a typhoon.
Payment will be made once we return from the tour.

*Pick ups are not provided from the Ishigaki Airport, Nagura, Kabira, Maibara, Shiraho, Miyara, Nosoko, and Ibaruma(or any other remote areas).

If multiple people are participating, please make sure all participants confirm the following. By participating, you are deemed to have agreed to the following terms and conditions.
(1) For safety reasons the following people are not allowed to participate in our tour:
1.People who have a hangover, have alcohol in their blood, or are feeling unwell.
2.Those under the age of 8 and over 62 years old.
3.Those who are anxious about swimming in the ocean or are not confident in their swimming abilities. Please keep in mind that the staff is responsible for the safety of the entire group and cannot stay with specific individuals.
If you are participating with children please keep an eye out for them. If you have any concerns, please contact us in advance.
(2)Insurance does not apply to those not wearing a life vest.
(3)You are responsible for keeping track of your belongings, including electronic devices such as smartphones and cameras. Please be careful not to lose them or damage them with salt water.
(4)At our shop, we ask that you refrain from bringing full-face snorkeling masks as they are more accident prone.
(5)Our shop’s cancelation policy is as follows:
⁃ Cancelation between 7 and 4 days in advance will incur a 50% refund.
⁃ Cancelations 3 days before and up to the tour will result in no refund.

The tours will be busier as the tours available during this time allow you to get face to face with manta rays and see them feeding at the surface of the water.
When participating in a tour during this time we would like you to acknowledge the following:
⁃ There is a possibility of you entering the water where there is a lot of floating plankton, which is a manta rays favorite meal. Please note that depending on your skin sensitivity this may lead to you experiencing rashes, redness, itching, etc.
⁃ To protect manta rays, when they are present skin diving is prohibited.
[Tour schedule]
1. On the day of the tour please come wearing a swimsuit underneath your clothing. Note that towels will not be provided, so please bring your own.
2. Lunch will only be provided to those on the full-day course. Please bring plenty of drinks with you!
[Sea sickness medicine]
⁃ if you are prone to motion sickness we highly recommend taking motion sickness medicine the morning of the tour please. We recommend the brand “Aneron” for over the counter medication.

⁃ Photos taken during the tour will be given to you free of charge. We aim to take at least one photo of each participant but please understand that this is not guaranteed.

If you are traveling to Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, Japan head to Kahoo Ishigaki.
Kahoo offers snorkeling and skindiving tours by boat departing from Ishigaki island.。
All reservations can be made via WhatsApp or LINE.
*The staff taking reservations can only speak Japanese but translation apps will be used for overseas guests.

*There are however English speaking instructors who will be guiding you on your tour.
The points visited on the tour will be determined on the day of the tour after looking at the weather and the seas conditions. You may encounter sea turtles, manta rays, colorful coral, sandy bottoms, beautiful terrain.
This is one of the few places on Ishigaki Island where skin diving and free diving are offered
*Sea turtles and manta rays are creatures living in the wild so there are days when you can see them and days when you cannot.
The boat can accommodate up to 20 people and has a tent that is used to sun shade and act as a wind and rain blocker. There is a toilet, and AED on board as well.
We offer rental life jackets, wetsuits(help with buoyancy and warmth), and commercial floats(red lifeguard floats) to all guests.

If you are not able to swim on your own, we ask that you do not participate in this tour.
This tour requires you to flutter kick on your own.
The staff are not assigned to one specific person but rather responsible for the safety of all participants.
Assistance with swimming will not be provided. For example staff will not help pull the float you are holding onto.
We recommend this tour to those who have their own equipment and participate in diving sports.
Depending on the weather and seas conditions we will head to the best points for the day, such as around Ishigaki Island and the other remote Yaeyama Islands.
*Hateruma Island, Hatoma Island, Barasu Island, and Oku-Iriomote Island are special tours that will require an expedition fee.
